JOHNSON, Jerry Wayne, ourbeloved friend and brother,died at the age of 63 at FortWalton Beach Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Hewas born on August 28, 1944,to Archie Seaborn and SusieLee Johnson in Wetumpka,Alabama. His parents preceded him in death. Jerrygrew up in Wetumpka wherehe acquired a genuine loveof the outdoors from his fatherat a very early age. His fathertaught him to love and appreciate the simple things innature, and they spent manyhappy hours together fishingon the river. His father alsotaught him how to confrontfear and deal with it responsibly when they were in dangerous situations. These earlyexperiences helped shapehis life and allowed him tobecome the honorable manthat he was. Jerry moved toFort Walton Beach in 1970and was a highly respectedestimator who helped designsome of the early condominiums along the coast. His career was cut short as a resultof illness which he incurredwhile serving in Vietnam. Hewas proud to have served hiscountry although his healthwas compromised for the restof his life as a result of his military service. When Jerry became disabled, he concentrated on becoming a mentor to several young peopleand took pride in teachingthem how to deal with life justas his father had taught him.Although he himself had illness to deal with for manyyears of his life, he was a verygenerous individual who constantly gave to others whowere less fortunate than he.Jerry leaves behind twobrothers; Bill Johnson of GulfBreeze, Florida, and LloydJohnson of Wetumpka, Alabama, as well as four sisters;Sarah Hendrix, Ruby Gray(Bufford), Julia Johnson, all ofWetumpka, Alabama andLinda Parlegreco (Vince) ofFlorala, Alabama. There arealso numerous nephews andnieces. Jerry was a wonderfulbrother and uncle as well asa very dear friend to all thosewho knew and loved himthrough the years, especiallyhis long time friends JeanHart and Joe Williams. Hiskindness and generous nature will not be forgotten. Visitation will be at Gassett Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until10:30 a.m. on Friday, March21, 2008. A graveside servicewill immediately follow at11:00 a.m. at Pine View Memorial Gardens with Rev. BillyDavis officiating. Flowers willbe acceptable or you maymake a contribution to theDisabled American Veteransin Jerry's memory. Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
