Obituary of Jerry-Alex Jackson


JACKSON Jerry Alex Jackson, born October 13, 1938, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2009 after a brief illness. Born to Jerome and Gladys Jackson in Miami, Florida, Jerry resided in Jacksonville, Florida the majority of his life. Jerry was a part of the old Duval County Road Patrol and retired from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office after many years of service. Jerry had several other careers in law enforcement and remained a loyal member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, whom he has missed deeply since her death in 2006. He is survived by his only son, Michael S. Jackson, daughter-in-law, Erin M. Jackson, two grandsons, Nicholas Tyler and Zachary Christopher and a host of other friends and family. Visitation will be held at Corey- Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesery Blvd. on Wednesday (TODAY), September 9, 2009, from 6 PM to 8 PM. The celebration service will be held at Arlington Baptist Church on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 10 AM with Pastor Joe Newton facilitating. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Community Hospice Foundation, 4114 Sunbeam Rd., Jax 32257. The family also wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Morris Center for their love and the care that they provided to the family during Jerry's illness.
