Jennifer Johnson, son of Lewis and Margaret, died on January 5, 2006.
SASS, Jennifer My dear family and friends, my time in this dimension came to a close on January 5, 2006, following a twelve year journey with breast cancer. The road has often been difficult, but I give thanks for the time I was given, enough time to raise my lovely daughters from childhood and see them achieve young womanhood. Jessica and Anya survive me. They have always been, and remain, my life's most precious gifts. My love for them will never die, and the energy of that love will surround them, and be with them, always. I was born in Ontario on October 16,1951 and spent my formative years as the only daughter in a loving family. My father, Lewis Johnson, has predeceased me, but I am blessed to be survived by my dear mother Margaret Johnson, and my four wonderful brothers and their spouses - Jeffrey and Lorna, Ian and Sherry, Eric and Donna and Andrew and Elise - along with a host of energetic and entertaining nieces and nephews. Their lives have surely enriched mine. I came to Calgary some thirty years ago, and spent the majority of my working life with Global Television. I have always valued those years, particularly the close friendships which have sustained me through the best and the worst of my days. In that regard, I give special thanks to Lisa Geddes for wisdom, humour and loyalty. There are so many people who have had a positive impact on my life - incredible lifelong friends, close and loving aunts, uncles and cousins, my book club, my fellow Sistership dragon boat paddlers, my fellow cancer travelers in the BEST group - all of you whose lives intersected with mine in some way, and were woven together with my own life in a warp and weft of love, memory and meaning. Thank you all for sharing so generously. I would also like to thank Dr. Barbara Walley and Dr. Elaine Stapon for exceptional care. You have both eased my journey. If you wish to remember me, please do so with a memorial donation to a cause dear to your heart, or to an organization that benefits women with breast cancer. Friends and family who would like to say goodbye can drop by McInnis & Holloway's Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North on Sunday, January 8 from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. All are also welcome for a celebration of life on Monday, January 9 at 10:00 a.m., at the same location. My remains will be cremated, and committed to the scattering garden at Queen's Park Cemetery.
