Reverend Jennie Eleanor (Smitty) Kent (nee Smith)January 10, 1912 – February 22, 2017On Wednesday, February 22, 2017 Rev. Jennie (Smitty) Kent, B.A., A.Th. widow of Alfred (Buck) Kent passed away peacefully in the Grenfell Pioneer Lodge at the age of 105 years. The Anglican Funeral Liturgy will be held in Trinity Presbyterian Church, Grenfell on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Willie Lourens and Bishop Robert Hardwick officiating. Interment will be in the Grenfell Cemetery. In 1945 Jennie married Alfred T. Kent.; she was predeceased by her husband in 1991, her brothers Thomas and John Smith and sisters Jessie, Lillian and Elsie. Smitty is survived by her sisters Edith Barber and Myrtle Stewart and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a farm wife, musician, teacher, an ordained priest and a world traveler by those who knew her.
