Jeanne de la Houssaye, age 62, a well-known Free-lance Artist died on Friday, November 11, 2005 of cancer at her home. Miss De de la Houssaye was a graduate of Louise S. McGehee School and McCrady Art Institute and also received a Bachelor of Art degree from Loyola University. She worked as a Graphic Artist for both Times Picayune and The Yellow Pages. She also managed her owned graphic design firm for over 25 years. She designed the logos and graphics for Arnaud's and Semolina restaurants as well as many other high-profile advertising accounts. Her clients included Disney, Southwest Airlines, Pitney-Bowes, Popeyes, Wendy's and Kingston Technologies, the Louisiana Department of Tourism, the Louisiana Department of Libraries and Keep Houston Beautiful. She was the recipient of numerous industry awards including a national CLIO for creative excellence in advertising and several regional ADDYS in recognition of the creative spirit of advertising. Miss de la Houssaye was active in a long list of industry organizations and was president of the Graphic Artists Guild, At-Large Chapter and a member of the board of directors of Relocate New Orleans. She was a member of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, Arts Council of New Orleans, the New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network, the National Caricaturist Network and the Illustrators Partnership. She was also an active member and outings chairman of the local Sierra Club, Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators and Faulkner Institute, and regularly organized and led canoe trips all over the Southeast.
