Jeanne-Amanda Smith, born in 1941, spouse of Percy-G. Smith, daughter of Leo and Virginia, mother of James Albert, Sheila Marie and Patricia Ann, died on June 9, 2011 at 70 years old.
WATERVILLE -- Jeanne Amanda Smith, 70, of Waterville died unexpectedly Thursday, June 9, 2011, at her residence.She was born in Waterville, June 5, 1941, the daughter of Leo and Virginia (Lesonde) Pinette.Mrs. Smith had been a certified nursing assistant at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus in Waterville. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars in Winslow and of the American Legion Auxiliary in Waterville. She loved playing Beano, Bingo, going to Bangor slots, and family gatherings. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Percy G. Smith, who died July 17, 2002; two brothers, Arthur and Bobby Smith; and by a sister, Lorraine Pinette.Survivors include a son, James Albert Smith of Winslow; two daughters, Sheila Marie McKenney of Waterville and Patricia Ann Smith of Winslow; two brothers, Jerome Pinette of East Hampton, Mass., and Gerald York of Fairfield; two sisters, Alice Gurney of Fairfield and Joanne Raymond of East Hampton, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver St., Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville.
