JACKSON, JEANETTE ELIZABETH GAINEY, 87Jeanette Elizabeth Gainey Jackson, age 87, a native of Florida who formerly lived in Brooker, FL, wife of the late James Jackson, Jr., a loving mother of four sons, daughter of the late Elijah & Eliza Gainey and devoted Member of Old Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church peacefully transitioned on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Haven Hospice/ E.T. York Care Center (Gainesville, FL). Mrs. Jackson spent most of her adult life in New York City. She was a Christian community leader and activist. She was a Member of Lexington Houses Neighborhood Watch, the St. Andrews Cadet Corps and a well-loved Member of Ebenezer Church. Upon her retirement from the New York City Department of Education, she moved to Gainesville. The Homegoing Celebration will be held 11:00AM Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church (Gainesville, FL) with her Pastor, Reverend Tommy Lee Brantley, officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Meadows Memorial Park - East. Mrs. Jackson will be viewed at the Funeral Home on Friday 2:00-7:00PM - At the Church on Saturday 30 Minutes prior to the Services - And with the Processional. The Procession will form at the home of Mrs. Jackson, 626 NE 19th Street, Gainesville, at 10:30AM. Precious Memories will remain with her four sons: James Jackson, III (& Geneva) of Dallas, TX, Rodney G. Jackson (& Robin) of Bergenfield, NJ, Kevin L. Jackson (& Patrice) of Queens, NY and Dwayne D. Jackson of New York, NY; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings - Irene G. Porter, Sarah L. Gainey, and Beatrice M. Turner (& Nathaniel, Sr.) of Gainesville, FL, Elisha Gainey (& Eddie Mae) of Brooker, FL and Carrie Taylor of Melbourne, FL (Queen G. Simmons, Mary Bell Lynch, Leila Gainey, Napoleon Gainey and Elijah Gainey preceded her in death); nieces & nephews; cousins; & friends.
