Jackson, Jean SchaeferJune 22, 1926 - Nov. 9, 2008Jean Schaefer Jackson, 82, Sarasota, formerly of New York, Ariz., and North Carolina, died Nov. 9, 2008.Services will be at the DuBois Chapel in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill, N.Y., at a date to be announced. Survivors include her husband, Philip W.; daughters Elizabeth Jackson Hoffmann (Henryk) of Lititz, Pa., and Laura Jackson Noland (Robin) of Sarasota; sons Philip L. Jackson (Carol) of Beacon, N.Y., and Timothy A. Jackson (Amy) of Alfred, Maine; brother Albert W. Schaefer (Marijean) of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; grandchildren Emily Corrado of Pittsburgh, Pa., Laura Corrado of Los Angeles, Calif., Jennifer Corrado of Sarasota, Gregory Corrado of Lititz, Pa., Sudie Noland of Portland, Ore., and Casey Noland of Sarasota. Jean is predeceased by her parents, Louise (Kleber) and Albert W. Schaefer, of Binghamton, N.Y., a sister, Louise Schaefer Newell, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and an infant son, Jonathan Paul Jackson.Jean passed away at the Springs of Lake Pointe Woods, Sarasota, where she was well-cared for during her long illness. She and her husband, former IBM executive Philip W. Jackson, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Nov. 5, 2008, at the Springs where Philip continues to reside. Jean was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from Hood College in Frederick, Md., in 1948 with a B.A. in French and mathematics. Together with her husband and family, she bred dogs and Morgan horses for more than 35 years at their farm in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. Jean was a kind woman best known for her style, her love of travel and her sense of humor. She found true love when she met Philip.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or the Humane Society.
