March 29, 2005 Jean McLusky Miller, 87, of the Town of Onondaga, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she was the daughter of Vivian Seely McLusky and James McLusky. She and her late husband, Harold W. Miller, Ph.D., owned "Apple-wood" Orchards, Dr. Miller died in 1970. Mrs. Miller was a teacher. She started her career teaching grades 1 thru 8 in a one-room schoolhouse in Williamstown, NY. For many years, she was a 6th grade teacher at Cherry Road School in the Westhill School District, where she served as Principal from 1952 until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Miller was a 75-year member of the First Presbyterian Church United of Syracuse. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the NYS Retired Teachers Association, Onondaga County Retired Teachers Association, General Asa Danforth Chapter of NSDAR, Central-City Fralick Eastern Star # 433, the NY Farm Bureau, Moravia Grange and the Corinthian Club. She was a graduate of Syracuse's Central Technical High School and Syracuse Normal School. Surviving are her sister, Joan McLusky Lathrop; sisters-in-law, Constance McLusky and Gerti Hartman; and several nieces and nephews. She leaves a wide circle of friends, former students, and kind caregivers. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, in First Presbyterian Church United, 620 West Genesee St., Syracuse. A private family burial is planned. There will be no calling hours. Family will greet friends after the service in the Lee Chapel at the church. School Library in memory of Jean Miller, 400 Walberta Rd., Syracuse, NY 13219 or First Presbyterian Church United of Syracuse. Fairchild & Meech Syracuse Chapel in charge of arrangements.
