CHELMSFORD -- Jean M. (Shinney) Carr, 81, a resident of Chelmsford who was a World War II veteran, died Saturday, March 4. She was the wife of the late Edward Q. Carr.She was born in Medford, May 24, 1924, daughter of the late Frank J. and Catherine (Cullity) Shinney. She resided in Chelmsford and formerly lived in Quincy.Mrs. Carr was a Navy veteran during World War II, where she was a telegraph operator in the Pacific Theatre intercepting Japanese messages to be decoded.She was active in the Chelmsford Senior Center, and was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.Mrs. Carr was devoted to her family.She is survived by five children and their spouses, Catherine A. and Kenneth Cantrell of Chelmsford, Edward Q. and Susan Carr of Harrison, Maine, Ann Carr and Bruce Rogers of Greenfield, Paul F. and Robin Carr of No. Andover, and Joseph M. and Kimberly Carr of Chelmsford; two brothers, Michael Shinney of Scituate, and Robert Shinney of Pocasset; 11 grandchildren, Cynthia, Daniel, Christina, Jennifer, Caitlin, Kevin, Melissa, Meghan, Lauren, Alison and Madeline.
