Jean L. Miller, 87, of 100 Crawford Ave., Polk, Pa., died on Aug. 13, 2006. Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Springfield, Mo., she was the daughter of Carl William and Willie Mae Murry Johnson Dickens. Mrs. Miller was a 1941 graduate of St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She worked as a registered nurse for 42 years. Mrs. Miller was married Oct. 31, 1941, to Tracy H. Miller, Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1962. She is survived by two sons, Tracy Miller III and his wife, Sandra, of Sewickley and Kris Miller, Sr., and his wife, Candy, of Franklin; a daughter, Susan Biddle and her husband, William, of Seneca; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Dickens and his wife, Ethel, of Lebanon, Mo., and David Dickens and his wife, Patricia, of Ava, Mo.; a close friend, Blond E. Swadley of Springfield, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and a brother, Harold Dickens who died Aug. 26, 1999. Services will be held Aug. 16, 2006, in Franklin, Pa. Memorials may be made to Polk Fire Rescue, VNA Foundation or a charity of choice.
