Jean-J. Michaud, born in 1927, spouse of Donna Saunders, son of Auguste and Eva, father of James, Roland, Ma, Ellen, Nh, Ann, Or and Kathy, died on August 13, 2010 at 83 years old.
Mr. Jean J. Michaud, age 83, of Citrus Springs, FL, died peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2010, at Hospice House of Citrus County in Lecanto, FL, surrounded by friends and family following a lengthy illness.He was the beloved husband of Donna (Saunders), with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. Born in Salem, MA, Jean was the son of the late Auguste and Eva (Jacques) Michaud. He attended Salem, MA, schools and received a BS in pharmacy at Mass. College of Pharmacy, an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and was a professor at Mass. College of Pharmacy. Jean served during WW II and the Korean War in the United States Army as a principal trumpeter in various Army bands. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Tech Sergeant. He was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club in Peabody, MA, a business owner, having owned and operated Chestnut Street pharmacy and Hubbard Drug in Lynn, MA, and Wilson Square pharmacy in Peabody, MA, and prior Assistant to Mayors Kane and Meserve of Lynn, MA.Jean worked as a pharmacist in various pharmacies throughout northern New England prior to his retirement from the profession. He was an accomplished trumpeter; playing and conducting music was a very significant part of his whole life; he was a conductor of the Gove Marching Band in Peabody, MA, prior business agent and president of the North Shore Musicians Association Local #126, and prior president of the North Shore Labor Council. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, skiing, an avid card player, as well as a dog and cat lover, was a previous member of the Community Covenant Church of Peabody, MA, as well as a current member of First United Methodist Church in Dunnellon, FL. He was a loving husband and father, his family was very important to him, as well as all the close friends he had made in New England and in Florida.In addition to his wife, Donna, Jean leaves his children: Kathy Michaud-Tradd and her husband Bob of Sherwood, OR, Ann Michaud of Lancaster, NH, Ellen Michaud-Martins and her husband David of Westford, MA, Roland Michaud of Woburn, MA, James Michaud and his wife Joanne of Hooksett, NH, and his stepdaughter, Debbie Higgins and her husband Ed of Punta Gorda, FL, as well as his former wife, Jean A. Michaud, of Danvers, MA. He was the brother of Lillian Lawler and her husband Walter of Wilmington, MA. Jean was the loving grandfather of Elona Shreiner, Coren Michaud-Tradd, Adrian and Anthony Martins, Sydney and Shayne Michaud and Dianna Darsney. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Rene, George, Roland and Leo Michaud and daughter-in-law Lisa Michaud. His additional surviving family includes his sister-in-law, Seta Michaud, and brother-in-law, Leonard Saunders.Jean's memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Dunnellon, FL, officiated by the Reverend Eddie Fulford, on August 16. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Massachusetts. Internment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
