Jean-Eliza Armstrong, born in 1919, spouse of Roy Barron, daughter of Gordon and Martha, mother of Cheryl, Sandra, Judith, Michael, Alta and Rick, died on May 26, 2001. Please consult the obituary here:
JEAN ELIZA BARRON Jean Eliza Barron (nee Armstrong), 81, a resident of Creston, B.C., passed away at the Creston Valley Hospital on May 26, 2001 after a valiant struggle against cancer. She was born Dec. 28, 1919 at Macoun, Sask., where she was raised and received her education, excelling in track and field sports and obtaining her high school diploma. Jean attended secretarial school in Regina. She married Roy Barron on March 11, 1942 in Barwick, Ont., where they raised their family. They remained on their farm until August, 1982, at which time they retired to Creston. Jean was a member of the Barwick Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Ladies Circle. For several years, Roy and Jean attended Erickson Covenant Church in Creston, and were active workers in the Erickson Golden Agers Club. For the past five years, Jean had enjoyed attending St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy, in 1997; her parents, Gordon and Martha Armstrong; five brothers, Roy, Melbourne, Raymond, Ken, and Gerald; and one sister, Mary Moffatt. Jean will be sadly missed by her two sons, Rick of Calgary, Alta., and Michael (Brenda) of Fernie, B.C.; and three daughters, Judith (Edward) Swain of Creston, Sandra (Christopher) Dauphinais of Brandon, Man., and Cheryl (Ernest) Dooley of Brandon, Man. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Matthew, Geoffrey, Katie, and Tessa Barron of Fernie, B.C., and Anthony, Samantha, Joseph, and Jennifer Dauphinais of Brandon, Man.; and one great-grandson, Dylan Foster of Brandon, Man. Jean also is survived by two brothers, Douglas Armstrong of Richmond, Que., and Alan (Bill) Armstrong of Ottawa, Ont.; two sisters, Alice (Joe) Ostlund of Edmonton, Alta., and Vivian Montean of Medicine Hat, Alta.; one sister-in-law, Norma Armstrong of Estevan, Sask.; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. The funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church in Creston on Friday, June 1, 2001 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating on behalf of Pastor Doug Johns. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, B.C. Friend wishing to make a memorial tribute may do so to the Creston Valley Hospital-Palliative Care Suite, P.O.
