Obituary of Jean-C. Carr


Jean C. Carr, 95, died Dec. 11, 2010, at The Water's Edge Extended Care, Palm City. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, and lived in Stuart and Palm City for 35 years, coming from Lansing, Mich. She was a fashion model in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Detroit. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees at Michigan State University, Lansing, where she remained as an academic adviser and counselor. As a certified parliamentarian, she was a board member of many organizations and president of several women's golf associations around the country, including Miles Grant Country Club, Stuart. She was a founding member of the Martin Downs Country Club Women's Golf Association, Palm City. She was a volunteer at Martin Memorial Medical Center, Stuart. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Historical Society and the Elliot Museum. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Barch of Mackinac Island, Mich.; son, Ronald P. Carr of San Diego; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Preston Carr, and brother Glen Callander.
