SMITH, JANNIE J.Jannie J. Smith, age 79 of Bridgeport entered into eternal rest Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Bridgeport Health Care Center. Born in New Rochelle, NY to the late George and Rebecca Holmes Maddox, Jannie had been a resident of Bridgeport for the past fifty plus years. She was employed as a presser with a former coat factory here in Bridgeport. Her spiritual needs were met as a disciple of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, her husband Ralph Smith predeceased her. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Ronald D. Smith and daughter, Rose M. Smith of Bridgeport; a sister, Anna Carpenter of Stratford; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014, 11:00 AM at Morton's Mortuary, Inc., 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport with Pastor Deborah Vereen, officiating.
