Obituary of Janet Stewart

STEWART, Janet (nee Blair) Janet died December 18, 2009 at the age of 92 years, eight weeks after having a heart attack. She was born December 5, 1917 to Mabel and Robert Blair. Janet grew up in Richmond/Lulu Island as part of this pioneering family and shared many stories of growing up with her brothers and sisters. She is predeceased by her siblings Gertrude Hall (Bert), Art Blair, Willard Blair (Auline) and Frances Chandler (Rex). Although Janet did not have children, she had many nieces and nephews and their children who she loved very much and who she always enjoyed being with. Janet married George Stewart and they moved to Tacoma, Washington where she worked at Boeing as a riviter for many years. Jan loved animals and was an avid gardener who spent countless hours nurturing her vegetables and flowers. After George died in 1988 she moved to West Vancouver to be closer to her sister, Frances Chandler and extended family. Since returning to BC, she enjoyed a full life walking the West Van sea wall and visiting with her family and friends. Jan's family would like to acknowledge the nurses and care aides at Capilano Care Home for their compassionate and empathetic care of Janet. We thank you very much. At Janet's request there will be no formal service. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
