Obituary of Janet-G. Humphrey


ARLINGTON -- Janet G. Humphrey, 66, a resident of Legion Road in Arlington, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Janet was born in Sunderland on June 28, 1941, the daughter of James and Gladys (Cheney) Ennis. Janet received her education in the one room school house in Sunderland and then graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School. Janet loved all kinds of crafts, especially quilts. She enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Arlington Rescue Squad and was a huge supporter of all Arlington athletics following the progress of her children and grandchildren.Janet is survived by her husband, Gerald B. Humphrey Sr., whom she married at the East Arlington Federated Church on September 4, 1959, her son Gerald B. Humphrey Jr. and his wife, Lemonie, of Londonderry, her daughter, Kelli Humphrey, and her partner, Lynn Jeffrey, of Bomoseen; three brothers, James “Cub” and Peter Ennis of Felton, Del., and David Ennis of Sunderland and Florida; five sisters, Frances Secoy of Sunderland, Shirley Priest of Florida, Peggy Gulley and Penny Rogalski of Bennington and Clara Harrington of Rutland, and three grandchildren: Olson, Garrett and Paige Humphrey, Donald and Marilyn Humphrey of Schenectady, N.Y., and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded by three sisters: Winnie, Edna and Mary Ennis.Graveside funeral services for Janet will be held Wednesday afternoon Aug. 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the family lot in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. There will be no visiting hours. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at The Arlington Legion located in Arlington.
