<br><br><br> "Missy"<br><br><br><br> Jane Helen -->Jane Helen Davis "Missy" Jane Helen Davis, 41, loved and loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend, died Friday, July 6, 2007, following an automobile accident. A resident of Decatur, she graduated from Walton High School in 1984, and from the University of South Carolina in 1988 with a degree in advertising and public relations. Missy was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She earned a master's degree in business administration from Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Sciences-Po), Paris, France, and was engaged in a doctoral program in second language acquisition at the University of Georgia. She was a teacher of French at The Heiskell School and a professor of French at Oglethorpe University. She had worked as the marketing manager for the French firm Parex, Inc., as national sales and marketing manager at Georgia-Pacific, as executive director of Atlanta's French-American Chamber of Commerce, and as a professor of French at Georgia Tech. Missy was an active member of North Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she had taught Vacation Bible School, sung in the choir, and participated in the Alpha program. She loved music, and her passion for teaching French inspired others to love the French language. She was devoted to her two girls, and there was never a more caring daughter. Her grace, beauty, humor, and generous nature will be remembered and missed. Missy was preceded in death by a brother, Walter. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Powell Medlin and Caroline Jane Medlin; parents, Rev. Archie Davis and Jane Davis; brother, Phillip; uncle and aunt, Henry and Katherine Powell; cousin, Kappy Powell; all of Atlanta; and aunts, uncles, and cousins in Spartanburg, SC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 o'clock Saturday, July 14 at North Avenue Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in the church parlor. Interment will be at 1:00 o'clock Sunday, July 15, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 4357 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC. Missy would be happy that any gifts made in her memory be designated for the Children's Music Ministry, North Avenue Presbyterian Church, 607 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30308, or for The Heiskell School, 3260 Northside Drive, NW, Atlanta, GA 30305.
