->Murphy, Jane FrancesJane Frances Murphy of White Plains was called by God into eternal life on Monday Feb. 21, 2011. Born on Sept. 26, 1929 she was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Hazel Murphy. Educated at Holy Spirit School and The Academy of Mt. St. Ursula in the Bronx, Jane was employed for many years at the NY Telephone company. While there she went to college at night, receiving her B.A. from Lehman College. She subsequently received her M.S.W. from Fordham University and embarked on a second career as a social worker at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose. Jane lived her life with great faith in God, and with kindness and generosity to everyone she met. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in White Plains, teaching religion and serving as a Eucharistic minister for many years. Her other volunteer activities ranged from delivering Meals on Wheels, to helping people with disabilities on a tour of Lourdes, to working with the Legion of Mary, and to helping out at Masses for those who are handicapped. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly. They include Maureen Quinn, Regina and Greg Galligan, Pat Murphy, Anne Marie Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Audrey and Bill Johnson, Sheila and Greg Triandis, and Andrew Murphy, Carol Manse, Ginny Licursi, and Margaret and Mel Mead. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and also her brother and sister-in- law Patrick and Marilyn Murphy, and by her sister Ellen Gilcher and her husband Walter Gilcher. Jane was an inspiration to everyone. Her sweet disposition and gentle nature will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 8PM. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday 10:30AM at St John the Evangelist Church with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett FH
