ObituaryJane Fielding Rice formerly of Troy, NY passed away on Wednesday evening March 19, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard L. Rice. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Kessler of Fort Myers and her son Daniel F. Rice of San Antonio, TX and five grandchildren Denise Topf of Parrish, FL, Brian Wilcox of Meridian, MS, Morgan, Kayla Marie and Daniel Rice of San Antonio, TX and Marilyn's extended family, Sandra Stevenson and grandchildren Ehren and Ryan Shewchuk.Jane retired from the New York State Education Department as Secretary to the Board of Regents. After taking up residence in Fort Myers she became a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was active on the Altar Guild and also was a Foster Grandparent at Morningside Elementary. Until recently her favorite pastime was her knitting and her many donations of her knitted items. For the past four plus years she has been under the care of the staff of HealthPark Care Center on Bass Rd. where she chose to at the end due to the caring staff. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 25th at St. Luke's Chapel at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice or the Salvation Army which Jane always contributed to.
