->FAIRFIELD -- James William Sturtevant, 38, died unexpectedly on Friday December 7, 2007.He was born in Waterville on June 28, 1969, the son of William and Gloria (Gallagher) Sturtevant. Jim graduated from Messalonskee High School, Class of 1987. He worked most of his life on the family farm, and was known as the "ostrich man," having raised ostriches. Jim enjoyed spending time with his fiancee Catherine Gamblin, and socializing with his friends. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone who asked.He was predeceased by his mother, Gloria Sturtevant, a sister Gena Gagne and a nephew Chris Gagne. Surviving are his son Matthew Jacob Sturtevant, his fiancee Catherine Gamblin of Oakland, his father William Sturtevant of Fairfield, his grandmother Helen Gallagher of Oakland, his brothers Sgt. Major Jeffrey Dean Sturtevant, stationed with the U.S. Army in Texas, and Gregory Gagne of Oakland, a sister Stephanie Sturtevant of Maryland, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.Friends are invited to visit 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, December 9 at Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church St., Oakland. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Mountain Top Christian Fellowship on High Street Oakland. Spring burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery in Oakland.
