Obituary of James-W. Carter


CARTER James W. “ Buck” Carter, 71, passed away May 30, 2004. A native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, he lived in Melrose for the 14 years. He retired after 26 years of service from JEA/Water Services and served 2 years in the U.S Navy. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Morocco Temple, Albert J. Russell Lodge and the Scottish Rite. A loving family man, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy; son, Keith Carter, sisters, Mary Chancey and Corina Dubberly. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 3rd, in the Chapel of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 729 S. Edgewood Avenue with Rev. Larry McGinley and Rev. Ron Penrod officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM Wednesday (today) at the funeral home.
