July 21, 2005 James Trevor Davies, age 82, died in his sleep at home in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 21, 2005. He was born in Syracuse, New York on January 20, 1923, the only child of James T. Davies and Mary Emily Davies of Eastwood. Trevor, as the deceased was known, never married, and fathered no children. He attended Eastwood High and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Thereafter he earned a bachelors degree from Syracuse University, and continued the career with Dunn & Bradstreet that he had begun as a boy reporter. He lived in Syracuse all his life, except for during assignments as Regional Sales Manager for Dunn & Bradstreet in Tampa, Florida; in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and as assistant National Training Director for that same firm in New York City. He then became a cost accountant for Raytheon Corporation in Lexington, Massachusetts, before returning to Syracuse to earn his MBA at Syracuse University. He served as senior accountant for the Niagara Mohawk Nine Mile One and Nine Mile Two projects, and ended his career by earning his Real Estate Broker's license, working then as a sales agent for Better Homes & Garden Realty and Kirnan Realty. From the late 1970's he resided in the Lancaster Avenue area with his platonic companion, the late Mrs. Elenor E. Hicks, a former Syracuse University employee. He will be missed among a wide circle of Syracuse University staff and retirees. In the mid-1990's, he entered doctor's care for Alzheimer's Syndrome and Parkinson's Disease, living at Heritage Apartments and the Cunningham facility on East Brighton Avenue. After the passing of Mrs. Hicks in 2003, her caregiver and eldest son, Timothy D. Hicks of Syracuse and Honolulu, began to plan including Trevor in Tim's return to Honolulu. Tim was also caregiver for Mr. Davies. Trevor Davies had visited Hawaii with Mrs. Hicks on a long vacation in 1988, and Trevor was an enthusiastic admirer of the climate, people, cuisine and customs of Hawaii. They moved in November 2004 to a Waikiki apartment with an unobstructed view of Diamond Head. In accordance with Mr. Davies wishes, his ashes will be scattered at sea offshore from Waikiki by Hawaiian outrigger canoe. Arrangements by Ultimate Cremation Services of Hawaii.
