GOODWIN James Stanley Goodwin, 56, passed away at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine Thursday morning, January 2nd, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Jacksonville and a lifelong resident of the area, most recently residing in Picolata, Florida. He served over 14 years in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard and was a Vietnam veteran. He attended the Florida Military Academy in Deland and graduated from Wolfson H.S. James enjoyed scuba diving and was a volunteer fireman in Colee Cove. He was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church. His father, Joseph Terrell Goodwin, preceded him in death in 1984. Survivors include his devoted wife of 9 years, Liza F. Goodwin, loving mother, Vivian Bush Goodwin, mother-in-law, Esperanza Flores of Baliuag, Philippine Islands, two sisters, Diane Goodwin Douglas (Bob) of Atlanta and Dorothy Goodwin Shelton (Clyde) of Philadelphia, one aunt, Bonnie Wagner (Paul) of Tampa, two nieces, two nephews and several cousins. The Reverend Ron Henson will lead Funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 7th, at Southside Baptist Church. Private burial will be at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Monday evening at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 4115 Hendricks Ave. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd., 32207.
