Mr. James Steven "Steve" Johnson, 49, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel.He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a graduate of Muscle Shoals High School and the University of North Alabama, with a master's degree in social work. He worked as a drug and alcohol counselor, loved music, antiques, pottery and his family. He was a member of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Hansel Cross; niece, Melissa Crawford; and grandparents, Ray and Mae Long and Sam and Grace Johnson.Survivors include his daughter, Casey Johnson, of Athens, Ala.; his mother and stepfather, Shelia and Charles Cooner, of Muscle Shoals; father, Samuel Johnson, of Rockwood, Tenn.; sisters, Donna Arnold and husband, Jimmy, Debbie Crawford and husband, Robert; brothers, Sam Johnson and wife, Anita, Perry Cross and wife, Cathy, Duane Cross and wife, Mitzi; stepsisters, Tammy Layman and husband, Willis, Donna Handley, Christine Wade, Michelle Estrada and husband, Robert; aunts, Audrey Carroll and husband, Rick, Jenny Hembree and husband, David; uncles, Allen Long and wife, Jean, Glen Long and wife, Jane; nieces, nephews and friends.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to A&E Hospice or Valley Grove Baptist Church.The family would like to extend special thanks to Jill, Kay and Glen, of A&E Hospice.Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia, is directing.
