It is with much sadness that we announce the death of James (Jimmy) Patrick McKenzie who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Montreal Jewish General Hospital on Wednesday May 11, 2011. He leaves behind his cherished wife Joyce Helen Adub, and their children Lisa (Angelo Pace), James, John (Isabelle Roy), Jennifer (Gino Tomasino) and their grandchildren Jesse, Jamie, Anthony, Cole, Mia Cara, Alessia and Ciara. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of Catherine, Patrick (Ann), Peter (Beverly), Sally (Andy) and Lawrence and predeceased by siblings Terry and Charles. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and many, many friends. We will mostly miss his love, sense of humor, wise words and quick wit. Everyone should be so blessed to have such a supportive husband, loving father, grandfather or friend. He was a man devoted to his family, proud of his community and who always remembered his roots. Funeral service to be held in the Rideau chapel on Tuesday May 17 at 1pm. Our heartfelt thanks to the JGH, Dr. Carmela Pepe, Tara Jesion and all the staff in Palliative care. WORDS my father would share with us...When it's time to leave this world somedayNo matter what we do, believe or think or sayAll we get to keep is what we gave awayMay the road rise up to meet you.May the wind always be at your back.May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again,May God hold you in the palm of His hand.Death is nothing at all.It does not count.I have only slipped away into the next room.Everything remains as it was.The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.Call me by the old familiar name.Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.Put no sorrow in your tone.Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.Let it be spoken without effortLife means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.
