James P. Casey, 75, a Sparkill resident of 40 years died Monday at Nyack Hospital with his family at his side. He was preceded by his wife of 40 years, Mary Casey who passed in September 2001. Born in New York City on March 18, 1928, he was the son of James and Mary Ellen Casey of the Bronx. Brother to John "Jackie" Casey of Long Island, Michael Casey of Bullhead City Arizona, and Mary Ellen "Tete" Finn of Hawthorne, CA. He is survived by two sons: Seamus of Torrance, CA and Chris of Trooper, PA. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law: Drina and Debbie, along with three grandchildren: Kyle, Megan and Christine. In his youth, Jim was an avid boxer, who made his debut in 1946 at the NYC Golden Gloves. He honorably served his country from 1948 - 1950 in the United States Marine Corp. He was educated at the State University of New York at Plattsburg and St. John's Law School. Jim was the president of Lucy-McNiece and Bull Agency. As an active member of the community, Jim served as the Chairman of the Ancient Order of Hiberians (AOH), Secretary of the John Paulding Engine Company #1, an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a number of other community endeavors, including the Dominican College and Thorpe Village. Jim will be dearly missed by his close friends at the Depot in Sparkill. Visiting hours will be Friday, October 24, 2003 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ (845) 359-2323. A Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 10 am.
