AMIRAULT, James O'Neil "Buff"-92, Pleasant Street, Yarmouth, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at home. Born May 29, 1911, in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Louis and Martha (Cottreau) Amirault. He was a fish handler with Lawrence Sweeny Fisheries in Yarmouth, where he worked until his retirement. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in Belgium, France and Holland. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 61, Yarmouth, and he also played baseball with the original Yarmouth Gateways. Buff was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed. Surviving are his children, Francis "Frank" (Carol), Dartmouth; Larry (Anne), Yarmouth; Pat (Jim) Trefry, Chebogue Point; brother, Aloysius, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Cheryl, Lynn, Nicky, Karen, Sharon, Beth, Karen, Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Mallory, Zachary and Cameron. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Florence "Sis" (Francis) Amirault; brothers, Louis and Leo; sisters, Regina, Dorothy, Celeste, Hilda, Edith. No visitation by request. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, in Notre Dame of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 7 Bond St., Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Forest Street, Yarmouth. A luncheon will be served in Notre Dame Youth Centre, Queen Street, after interment. Family flowers only by request.
