James Nolan Grimes, 87, of Union City, Ohio, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 at his residence. He was born Dec. 16, 1923 in New Madison, Ohio, to the late Roll and Dakota Henry Grimes. He was employed for 45 years by Triangle Pacific, retiring in 1987. He was a W.W. II Navy veteran, a life member of Greenville Farm Power of the Past, Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association Inc., and Randolph Antique Tractor Club. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Thelma May Paulin Grimes; children, Sharon (Jim) Hipple of Lancaster, Ohio, Richard (Patricia) Grimes of Ansonia, Ohio, Jack (Jane) Grimes of Union City, Ind., and Judy (Mark) Cline of Union City, Ind.; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Grimes of Greenville, Ohio, and John (Betty) Grimes of Union City, Ohio; two sisters, Phyllis Hampshire of Winchester and Ida Mae Girton of Union City, Ind; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herman Grimes, Robert Grimes, Roll Grimes and David Grimes; six sisters, Leona Gessler, Marjorie Freymuth, Anna Mikesell, Doris Grimes, Betty Fudge and Esther Moffitt. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Reichard Funeral Home, Union City, Ind., with Pastors Susan Deverall and Dale Boeger officiating. Burial is at Teegarden Cemetery, Ansonia, Ohio.
