MCGOWAN, James Edward (Jim)December 23, 1917 – March 29, 2014It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather and uncle on March 29, 2014 at the age of 96. Jim is survived by his son Dave and daughter-in-law Dianna and her sister Shirley Ripley, grandsons Bradley and Kevin and great- grandchildren Brogan, Liam and Hanna as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Katherine (1998) and all his 7 siblings, Bernie, Carey, George, Lilyann, Percy, Flossie and Harvey. Jim was born in Hanna, Alberta and came to BC with his family when he was 12 years old. He had a passion for motorcycles at an early age and was instrumental in forming the Royal City Rockets Motorcycle Club. His working career included being a shoemaker, welder, machinist, practical design engineer, owner of a battery mfg. company, restaurant owner, welding fabricating inspector and consultant. Jim was a brilliant man who could fix or design anything. He was an ardent fisherman and enjoyed camping and fishing with Kathy and family. Jim happily spent his last 3 years at Forestview, Eagle Ridge Manor, surrounded with amazing love and care by the wonderful staff.
