Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff, for James M. "Jim" Morris, 82, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away September 1, 2010. Pastor Eric House, the Rev. Larry Morris, and Speaker Aaron Acker will officiate. Burial will follow at Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel is in charge. Mr. Morris was a 1946 graduate of Hokes Bluff High School and also a graduate of Auburn University with BS, MS, and AA degrees in agribusiness education. He taught seven years at Hokes Bluff High School and was an agribusiness teacher at Ohatchee High School for 31 years. While he was in Ohatchee he was a member of Oak Bowery Church, and was presently a member of the First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff where he served as a deacon. He was sponsor for Future Farmers of America and served as president of Agribusiness Teachers Association, and also, vice president and president of Alabama Vocational Association. He served 3 years for the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Beulah Marker Morris; sisters, Beatrice Hedgepath and Clara Beasley; brothers, Lawton, Comer, Roy, Troy, Edsel and Ernest. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Knight Morris; daughter, Sharon (Ronnie) Epperson, Ohatchee; son, Kelly (Wendy) Morris, Indian Springs; granddaughter, Emily Epperson; grandsons, Garrett Epperson Wynn, Sam, Jake & Gabe Morris; great-grandson, Ethan Epperson; brothers, Billy Ray (Frances) Morris and George (Mary) Morris and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive flowers or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff. Pallbearers will be Jim Winn, Wesley Campbell, Ray Sanford, Jared Beasley, Paul Beasley, Gene Gossett, Jim Gidley, and Bonnie Fincher. Honorary pallbearers will be Berl Bryant, Gary Bolton, Max Bobo, Bill Street Sunday School class, Harry Cothran, Clay Campbell, Donald Jarrells, Jeff & Betty Beasley, Glenn Gidley, Bill Loggins, Ken Duncan, and Kenneth Browning. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. www.glencoehokesbluff.com
