Obituary of James-Loynd II


ObituaryJim was born in Pennsylvania March 23, 1921. He attended the US Naval Academy and graduated Medical School from the University of Virginia. After graduation he served in the Navy during WWII. After his residency at St. Lukes Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, he moved to Kalamazoo where he practiced OB GYN medicine for over 40 years. He retired in 1991 and moved to Ft. Myers. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a Mason and Shriner, and served as Potentate of Saladin Shrine Temple in Grand Rapids in 1982. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jester Court No. 11. He served on the Board of Chicago Shrine Childrens Hospital and was an emeritus member of the board. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Joyce, sons James Loynd wife Zoee, Donald DeLong wife Jean, daughters Susan Smith and Nancy Sweet husband Perry. He was preceded in death by a daughter Helen Teper. He also survived by grandchildren; Montgomery Meersma, Josie DeLong, Morgan and Dylan Smith, Justin Sweet, Kim Holmes and Kerista Phillips and 4 great grandchildren and a sister Barbara Uncapher. At the request of the deceased there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908 or Chicago Shrine Childrens Hospital in care of Saladin Shrine Temple, 4200 Saladin Dr., Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
