James Lee, 59 AUBURN -- Mr. James Lee, 59, a resident of Lake Street, in Auburn, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening shortly after arrival at Central Maine Medical Center. He was born in Portland, July 9, 1949, the son of James B. and Catherine (Conley) Lee. Jim was educated in Portland schools, graduated from Cheverus High School in 1967 and attained his teaching degree from the University of Maine at Fort Kent in 1971. On July 31, 1982, he married the former Peggy Nichols and together they settled in Auburn to raise their two children. Jim started his teaching career in Van Buren, and in 1974 transferred to the Auburn School Dept. where he taught at Fairview Elementary School until his retirement in June 2007. Jim was an avid bass fisherman, enjoyed kayaking and upon his retirement added photography to his interests. Humor defined Jim, those who knew him were rewarded with his quick wit, one-liners and the knack to get in the last word. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. He leaves his wife and best friend of 26 years, Peggy Nichols Lee of Auburn; a daughter Jennifer Lee of South Portland, a son Christopher Lee of Auburn; two sisters, Sally DeLuca and husband Dominic of Falmouth and Rosemary Mulkern and husband Richard of Portland, two brothers, John Lee and wife Judy of Portland and David Lee and wife Sharon of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Janet Talbot.
