James "Ev" Lee, 86, Ellenton, died Sept. 15, 2002. He was born May 5, 1916, in Village of Hempstead, N.Y., and came to Manatee County in 1999 from Queensbury, N.Y. He was a foreman with New York Telephone for 30 years. He was an honorary chief and a 68-year member of the Hempstead Fire Department, and a member of the Warrensburg Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Florence; a daughter, Judith Newman of Ellenton; a son, James R. of Massapequa, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. No local visitation is scheduled. The service will be in Hempstead. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Mansion Chapel, is in charge.
