Oxford - Funeral services for James Lee Edwards, 87, of Oxford, will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. George D Robinson, the Rev. Curtis McGhee and the Rev. Jerry Starling will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Edwards died on Tuesday at National Health Care. Survivors include his wife, Annette Williams Edwards; daughter, Le Ann Edwards Robinson and her husband, George D. Robinson; son, Tim Edwards and his wife, Donna Edwards; grandchildren, Shane Edwards, Mandy Shanae Kiker and her husband, Jason Kiker, Angie Robinson, Sara Robinson Higgins and her husband, Andrew Higgins; great-grandchildren, Tyler Edwards, Talan Edwards, Tristian Butler, Katie Butler; step-granddaughters, Ashley and Susan; brother, Paul Edwards and his wife, Sue Edwards; sister, Malene Roberts; sister-in-law, Eddie Mae Edwards; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Edwards, Charles Edwards, Keith Edwards, Larry Champion, Tyler Edwards and Tristian Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Edwards, Tommy Edwards and The Charles Acker Sunday School Class at Lakeview Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards was a World War II Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Card for 26 months. He was a carpenter and retired from Fort McClellan Post Engineers. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee for many years. Mr. Edwards loved hunting, fishing and his family. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, William Mitchell Edwards and Della Edwards; sister, Alline Champion; brothers, Ernest Edwards, Duston Edwards and Clinton Edwards.
