WOODLAND - James "Jim" L. Williams, 65, beloved husband of Kathy Williams, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at his home. Jim was born Christmas Day 1945, in Caribou, the son of Matthew and Helen (Hemberg) Williams. After graduating from Caribou High School, Jim attended Maine Vocational Technical College, then worked for Mechanical Services in the Portland area. In 1967 he moved home to help work the family farm, while also working for Dead River until 1975. During the next 12 years, Jim farmed 120 acres of potatoes, and though he left farming, he loved working the fields with his Massey Ferguson, aka "Mag-gie." In 1987 he joined Aroostook County Action Program as an employment and training field representative until he retired in 2009. He married Kathy in 2000, and had 11 wonderful years together. Jim was a past member of Central Aroostook Young Farmers, past president of Caribou Jaycees, past president of Caribou Snow-mobile Club, past vice president of Caribou ATV Club and an instructor for Maine Oil Dealers Association for 10 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Seth and Karlyn Williams of Caribou, Kristen and Ron Hanson of Scarborough; stepchildren, Shannon Martin of Caribou and Jason Francisco of Caribou; and brother, Matthew Williams and his wife, Pati, of Woodland. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Delaney Williams, Erica Hanson and Emily Hanson. Jim was predeceased by his parents. Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at the funeral home with the Rev. Philip Devaney officiating. Interment will be held directly after the services at New Sweden Cemetery. After interment there will be a reception at First Baptist Church, Stockholm. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Jefferson Cary Foundation, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, ME 04736.
