GRAY, James November 10, 1922 - February 13, 2004 On February 13, 2004 James passed away at the age of 81 years. James immigrated to Canada from Coatbridge, Scotland in the early 1930's. He was a veteran of the Canadian Navy having joined at 17 years of age during WW2. He obtained his geology degree at McGill University in 1951. James was instrumental in the discovery of the Thompson Lake oilfield in Alberta. He spent two years doing exploration in Greenland. Throughout his life he maintained a great interest in rock formations and would share this with anyone who would listen. He was active in the Boy Scouts and the Canadian Ski Patrol. Skiing was a passion and he particularly loved Hiway 16 at Marmot Basin. James loved to sing and did so in the church choir. For the past two years James lived at the Mewburn Veterans Center in Edmonton where he was well taken care of. James will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends that he made over the years.
