Obituary of James-Ernest-William Price

PRICE, James Ernest William (Bill) - March 8, 1922 - March 2, 2010 Founding President and Partner of Rigid Box Company Longtime Employee of Automatic Paper Box Company It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bill Price on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Bill peacefully departed this life at Queensway-Carleton Hospital, Ottawa after a short illness. He is now reunited with his great love and soul mate of over 61 years, Audrey Passmore, who passed away in 2005. Bill is lovingly remembered by his children Helen (Dave McWhirter), Laura (Erich Haber), Fran (Gary Priestman), Bill (Lou-Ann) and Mary (Humberto Loiselle). Cherished Gramps of Scott (Jane), Stephen (Amy), Ian (Fiona), Aaron (Kristin), Allison, Katharine, David, Ashley and Carey-Anne (Scott) and great-grandpa of Ooma, Liam, Sophia and Holly. He was predeceased by daughter Shirley, grandchildren Andy, Sarah and David and older sister Jean Shallop. Bill leaves behind his dear sister Hilda Humeniuk and sister-in-law and friend Shirley Stewart. He is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Peterborough and the family moved to Toronto shortly thereafter. His parents were George James Ewart Price and Louisa Nunn. Bill spent most of his life in the east-end of Toronto working in the paperbox manufacturing industry. In his fifties, he went into partnership with colleagues and established his own company. He was a much respected colleague and employer. In 2000, Bill and Audrey moved to Ottawa where Bill had the assistance of Laura and Mary and their families in caring for an ailing Audrey. When Audrey required institutionalized nursing care, Bill was welcomed into Laura and Erich's home. We will be forever grateful to have had Dad/Gramps in our presence. He was a gentle, easy-going man who showered us with love and respect, a fine example to live up to. We will miss him greatly. Family will receive friends at the Pine Hills Visitation Centre (625 Birchmount Road, north of St. Clair Avenue, Toronto) on Saturday, March 6, 2010 commencing at 9:00 a.m., prior to a service in the Chapel at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bill's memory to the CNIB, The Arthritis Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
