James Elmer McKenzie, 95, of Phoenix passed away on March 23, 2011. The funeral will be at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Paradise Valley, Ariz., at 10:30 a.m. on March 31, 2011, with a military funeral to follow at the National Cemetery in Arizona. Mr. McKenzie was born on Feb. 6, 1916, in New Brunswick, N.J. He attended St. Peter's School and was a member of the Fire Department for the city of New Brunswick for 34 years until his retirement. Mr. McKenzie was in the Army for a period of eight years during World War II. He was the loving husband of the late Margaret McKenzie. Surviving family in Phoenix, Ariz., are Kathleen Darrow, daughter; Lara Tartaglia, granddaughter, and her husband, Gregory, and great-grandson, Kevin. He will be missed by all who were blessed with knowing him.
