Obituary of James-Edward McCormack


James Edward McCormack died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, surrounded by his family. He was 82. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday, March 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the William R. Dangler Funeral Home, 309 Springfield Ave., Summit. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 5, at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, Chatham Township. Interment to follow at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. McCormack lived most of his life in Chatham Township. He served in the U.S. Navy and later the U.S. Marines and earned a B.S. degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange. He worked as a vice president for many years with the Merrill Lynch Company in New York before retiring. Mr. McCormack was a lifelong member of the Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit and a member of the Hawks Nest Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. He was also member of Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Chatham Township, where he had served as a trustee. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Helen B. (nee Brenn); seven children, James E. McCormack Jr., Paul McCormack, Peggy Crisalli, Gail DeVito, Robert Mandatto, Sharon Richards, and Jill Collins; his siblings, Mary Howard, Helen Fischer and Bill McCormack, and 10 loving grandchildren.
