Obituary of James-E. Mackenzie


Easton James E. MacKenzie, 48, of Easton died Thursday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Lucinda (Hewlett) MacKenzie. Born in Boston on Oct. 27, 1959, a son of Duncan J. and Bonnie L. (Bryan) Mac-Kenzie of Easton, he was raised in Charlestown and Easton and was a graduate of Southeastern Regional Technical High School. He entered the military after high school serving in the U.S. Army and contributed to the defense and stability of the Panama Canal area as a member of the forces of the U.S. Southern Command during the historic period of the negotiations and ratification of the new Panama Canal Treaties in June 1978 in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon discharge, he began working as a truck driver and later he became a roofer and was employed by Earl Scott Roofing of Easton. James enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Red Sox. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a sister, Michelle MacKenzie of Easton; and a niece, Madison MacKenzie. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in the Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Easton.
