2014 BAILEY ISLAND - James E. Davis, 74, died from complications of CNS Lymphoma on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. He was born in Bath, and raised in Cundy's Harbor, a son of Roy and Madelyn (Hart) Davis. He graduated Brunswick High School, class of '59. On Oct. 14, 1961, he married Diane Johnson. He was a member of the National Association of Realtors and The National Auto Dealers Association. He had also been a member of the Friends of Eagle Island, and of the Fort Myers Fishing Club, Florida, where he and his wife wintered for many years. A car guy, he started selling automobiles for Black's Olds, in 1967. His career in the auto business spanned 30 years, including ownership of Davis Auto, Brunswick and Davis Auto Mall, Waterville, and Davis Olds-Cadillac Volvo in Augusta, where he was awarded the 1995 Citizen of The Year. Later in life, he joined his son as a realtor for Homes & Harbors Real Estate. Beyond his love of fishing and cars, he enjoyed golf, and supporting his children and grandsons in their athletic pursuits. It is believed, "He never missed a game" and his dedication lead him to serve as the President of the Mt. Ararat Sports Boosters. He is predeceased by a brother, Alan Davis. Friends and family can visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the Mackerel Cove Land Trust. Memorial contributions can be made to the Orr's & Bailey Island Fire Department, P.O.
