James Douglas McKenzie, 69, passed away June 9, 2014 at the Veteran's Home in Pell City due to Leukemia. James was preceded in death by his parents Frank James and Hattie McKenzie. Sister, Barbara Hayden and brother, Larry McKenzie. Survivors include his sons, Rusty and Ryan McKenzie, of Flora, Ind.; four grandchildren: two sisters, Polly Weaver and Frances Smith; nieces, Teresa Battiste, Cindy O'Hare, Sherry Sherrer and Aletha Andrews; nephews, Rodney McKenzie , Rick and Randy Weaver, Jeff and Kevin Stewart and Mike Smith; several great-nieces and nephews. James worked in construction and enjoyed helping others. He preferred to be remembered with happy memories instead of a memorial service.
