DAVIS James Arthur Jr., age 59, was born in Columbia, SC. He resided in Paterson, NJ. Mr. Davis departed this life on Saturday, May 18, 2013. James began his career in Seattle Washington at General Electric, moving on to IBM, where he received a promotion to Franklin Lakes, NJ Headquarters. Using this experience, James along with his friend Arnold Brown launched Alpha Communications in Englewood, NJ. James was a member of The First A.M.E. Zion Church, Paterson, NJ. He served in numerous capacities including Preacher's Steward, Chairman of the Trustee Board, the Board of Christian Education winning the Christian Education F.A.M.E. and Church School Teacher Awards. James was very committed to his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., where he was a life member. James also remained an active member of the University of Washington Alumni Association. James served as the President of the Paterson Branch NAACP, Commissioner for the City of Irvington Housing Authority; Fellow at the Community Foundation of New Jersey Neighborhood Leadership Initiative, President of the New Jersey Federation of Housing Counselors and Agencies, local member of the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, Associate Zion CDC, member of the Paterson Democratic Club and Rotary International. His loving wife Paula survives James along with his sons James and William, mother: Margaret, father-in-law: Emmett, sister: Katheryne, brother: Keith, brothers and sisters- in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, June 1, 2013 10 AM at The First A.M.E. Zion Church 326 Ellison St., Paterson, NJ. Final Disposition: Cedar Lawn Crematory.
