Obituary of James-David Wilson


WILSON James David, 56, of Lexington, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012. He was born June 22, 1956 in Nyack, NY to James Carroll Wilson and Miriam Gerber Wilson. He is survived by his mother; two daughters of Mary Witt Wilson: Emily Frances Wilson and Rebecca Clay Wilson; a sibling; and a niece and nephew. Dave was preceded in death by his father. He served with honor in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division and 5th Group Special Forces. Dave graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BS in Geology in 1981 and maintained registration as a Professional Geologist in the state of Kentucky. He was retired from Kentucky State Government, having worked for over 20 years in areas related to environmental protection, including dam safety, surface mining, and groundwater investigations. Dave was a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the American Legion Man O'War Post 8 Honor Guard. Dave loved the outdoors and especially being in and around water. He earned the Eagle Scout Award in 1972, swam competitively with the Greater Lexington Swim Association (GLSA) as a teenager, and played water polo for UK. Burial will be Thursday, 10 am, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, and visitation will be Thursday 5-8pm at Milward-Southland.
