Mr. James Daniel ""Dan"" Carter-Incontro 62, of Clermont, Florida, died late Sunday, April 18, 2010 in the Florida Hospital Orlando. Dan had been a resident of Clermont for the past six years having moved there from Anchorage, Alaska where he lived for approximately thirty years. He was born July 22, 1947 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to his parents the late Mr. Frank W. and Martha Christine Odom Carter. Dan was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Columbia High School and then attended Trevecca College of the Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee. Following college Dan worked at the Army/Air Force Exchange in Montgomery, Alabama and was shortly thereafter transferred to Anchorage, Alaska. He worked for several years with the Exchange prior to transferring to the Transit Division of the City of Anchorage. He retired as the Marketing Manager for the Transit Department for the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska. In his spare time Dan enjoyed being a ""history buff"", traveling and sports. He especially enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, was an avid Florida Gator football fan. Dan attended the Joy Metropolitan Community Church in Orlando. Dan is survived by his Life partner of 41 years, Yano ""Al"" Carter- Incontro; his sister Sarah Carter Crews of Lake City; Florida; his brother Frank Carter, Sr., (Velma) Montgomery, Alabama. His nieces Cindi Boatright, Lake City, Florida; Melinda Montford, Tallahassee, Florida; Angie Carson, Lafayette, Tennessee.; Vickie Carter and Judy Caver, Montgomery, Alabama. His nephews Donald Harden, Lake City, Florida; Scooter Sanders, Fort Myers, Florida and John Carter, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama. Numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Dan's life will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 24, 2010, in the Lake City Church of the Nazarene, located on Hwy 47 South, with the Rev. Craig Henderson officiating.
