Mr. Cawthorn was a retired U.S. Veteran serving 2 years in the Army and 20 years with the Marines. He is survived by his two children, Kathy Cowan and Keith Cawthorn; three grandchildren, Joe Cowan, Katie Cawthorn and Joshua Cawthorn; one great grandchild, Joseph Cash Cowan and a brother, Eugene Cawthorn. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with Reverend Charles Evans officiating.
