James Barnett Weeks, Sr., 80, Winter Haven and formerly of Sarasota, died Aug. 20, 2005, at his summer home in Maggie Valley, N.C. He was born in Winter Haven and lived in Sarasota for 50 years. He retired in 1992 as owner of Weeks Oil Co. in Sarasota for 29 years. He graduated from Florida Southern University and was a Navy lieutenant in World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven, and attended First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville, N.C. He was a member of the Sahib Shrine Temple in Sarasota, Scottish Rite in Tampa, and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marile (Kattner); sons Charles R. McCord of Lawrenceville, Ga., John B. McCord of Fort Worth, Texas, and James B. Jr. of Tampa; a brother, Ralph W. of Lakeland; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson A memorial service will be later in Florida. Wells Funeral Homes of Waynesville is in charge.
