LOUDONVILLE James B. Winne, age 85, entered into eternal life Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Wilmington, N.C. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Mary Ann McNamara Winne. He was a graduate of the Cathedral Academy, class of 1938, and was active in the alumni association. He was a SSgt. in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Winne was a salesman for 16 years and district sales manager for 10 years for Benjamin Moore, retiring in 1976, and was a member of the Benjamin Moore 25 Year Club. He was the personnel manager at the Albany Co. Nursing Home from 1979-1990 and also sold real estate for Bob Howard in Colonie. Mr. Winne was a member of the American Legion, the Fifth Marine Division, and a Democratic committee member in Colonie. Devoted husband of 59 years to Alva Helen Ray Winne; loving father of Gail Heider of Wilmington and Barbie Givens and her husband Dan of Ester, Alaska; cherished grandfather of Sarah E. (Tom) Lauffenburger, Eric J. Heider and Pamela C. Heider; proud great-grandfather of Teagan Lauffenburger; and beloved brother of Anne W. Kennedy of Albany, the late Kathryn Hunter Bushman and Mary Elizabeth Betty Winne Zanotta. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights, Albany, Wednesday morning at 9:30 and 10 o'clock at the Church of St. Pius X, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
