Obituary of James-Alvin Carter

BOILING SPRINGS, SC-- James Alvin Carter, 85, of Boiling Springs, died Monday, March 6, 2006, at Valley Falls Terrace. Born August 15, 1920, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late James Alvin Carter and Alba Brannon Carter Walden and the step-son of the late John W. Walden. He was a former supervisor in the cloth room at Drayton Mills and later retired from Butte Knit as a security guard.Survivors include his wife, Lillian Smith Carter; three daughters, Donna Kay Green and her husband Mike of Boiling Springs, Yvonne Cooper and her husband Michael of Portland, OR, and Sheila Easley of Greenville; two granddaughters, Gina Rogers and her husband Sean of Boiling Springs, and Elisa Easley of Greenville; two great-granddaughters, Kaylin and Kendyl Rogers of Boiling Springs; a brother, John W. Walden, Jr. of Spartanburg; and two sisters, Myrtle Poteat and Martha Jones, both of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by two sisters, Agatha Davis and Carolyn Hill.Visitation will be 2-2:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Dickard.
